Our Partner, Iliass Segame, contributed to the elaboration of the first Africa-wide Survey focusing on costs of resolving disputes, the financing of claims, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on litigation and arbitration costs and measures to drive cost-efficiency in African disputes.

Based on responses from 25 African jurisdictions the survey provides useful insights from sole practitioners, associates, partners of law firms, in-house counsel, academics, third-party funders, representatives of arbitral institutions and other users of litigation and arbitration in Africa.

It is hoped that the survey will contribute to promote the development of efficient disputes resolution system in Africa and that arbitral institutions and governments in Africa will find useful when establishing or revising the rules in relation to costs and disputes funding.

Our partner, Iliass Segame, participated on January 24 and 25 in an online training course on alternative dispute resolution methods (ADR) for SMEs in Côte d’Ivoire by moderating panels composed of Arnaud Oulepo, Sylvie Bebohi Ebongo and Mahamat Atteib.

This training was designed to equip Ivorian SMEs with the necessary knowledge and skills on contract management, dispute prevention and resolution techniques using ADR techniques.

Contacted among expert cryptocurrency lawyers, our partner, Iliass Segame, delivered his perspectives on the idea of strict regulation by highlighting the obstacles such a measure is likely to encounter, as well as the aberrations that account holders on decentralized financial platforms may expose themselves in case of litigation.

After 3 weeks of intensive training consisting of seminars, workshops and mentoring sessions delivered by internationally renowned experts, our partner, Iliass Segame, obtains the International Arbitration Diploma.

Iliass spoke on the subject:

Throughout the world, ICC YAAF hosts hundreds of educational and social events per year, providing young professionals the opportunity to discover best practices, discuss topical issues and network with experienced practitioners. ICC YAAF’s activities are globally coordinated by the ICC YAAF Global Coordinating Committee in Paris and organized in each region by the ICC YAAF Regional Head of Chapter.
